There’s a little saying that what’s fun gets done. You know how it feels when you’re loving what you do so you just want to do more and more of it?
And there’s a fundamental truth that says what we focus on we get more of. Have you ever had that time when you’re just thinking about someone and suddenly they call you? Or you get a new car and suddenly you see your car everywhere?
When you put these two together (Fun with Focus) the results are truly spectacular.
In times like these, where there’s so much uncertainty around both physical and economic health, it’s easy to succumb to worry and fear. However, if all we do is worry, the fundamental truth is that we will just attract more to worry about. Most of us would prefer not to have that. So it’s important to think about and focus on what you do want in your life rather than on what you don’t want.
It’s not about ignoring the risks around us and doing that thing kids do by putting their fingers in their ears and singing “Lalalala, I can’t hear you!”
It’s more about consciously deciding what you’re going to focus on – new opportunities perhaps. Or deciding that, rather than wail, wallow and worry, we could have some fun. Because what’s fun gets done – so why wouldn’t you?
Studies have shown that when workplaces make fun a factor it creates happier employees who feel more satisfied and are highly engaged in the success of the business. Happy employees are all round better at their jobs. Workplace fun has been linked to:
Having fun is one way of effectively managing and improving employees’ emotions. It’s also proven to improve teamwork, build trusting relationships and increase employee retention.
So how do you have fun in times like these?
You focus on it! Here at The Business Wellbeing Club, fun is written into our culture statement as one of our core values.
Here are just 3 ways that we have fun that are relevant to all businesses:
We have a little friendly competition that adds a lot of fun to our meetings. There are prizes for demonstrating abundance which means our members just keep getting more and more abundant, grateful for each other’s services and support, sharing more and more contacts with each other and collaborating with wonderful results.
We can’t meet in person right now as a club but we have fun using online social platforms such as WhatsApp that everyone contributes to as they please. We meet each other over Zoom and take some time to get to know each other better. It’s not all about work!
We share our success stories and are sure to take time to celebrate them.
What we focus on grows and if we make it fun, it grows even more. That’s abundance – another core value of The Business Wellbeing Club! To find out more about The Business Wellbeing Club visit our website or just get in touch.
